Patches For Sale!

We are pleased to be able to offer this special selection of letterboxing patches for purchase. All proceeds from the sale of these patches will go directly toward our ongoing effort to preserve and share the history of letterboxing patches for other letterboxers. We accomplish this goal by taking the Historical Exhibit of Letterboxing Patches to events around the country, and by maintaining an online version of the exhibit at www.LetterboxingPatches.com

We sincerely thank you for your support!

I Love Cooties!
Cooties are those endearing miniature letterboxes that seem to have a way of finding their way into your pocket, your pack, your tent, or any other place that you turn your back on for 10 seconds... especially whenever there's a group of fun-loving kids (or playful adults) nearby! Let everyone know that you welcome the "infestation" by attaching this heart shaped patch to your letterboxing gear. (3" x 3")

No Cooties Please!
Cooties are adorable, but not all of us wish to participate. And there's no sense in passing them on to someone who doesn't really want to play along. Here's a friendly way to let people know that you would prefer not to be included in the hijinx. Just attach this cute little stop-sign shaped patch to your letterboxing gear, and consider yourself immunized. (3" x 3")

Blue Diamond Letterboxer
Thanks to patch creator Lock Wench, the notoriously popular Blue Diamonds are now available exclusively from this site! As you may know, they were made after Atlas Quest started assigning blue diamonds to highly rated clues. We think Lock Wench put it best when she wrote,
"A Blue Diamond Letterboxer is more important to me than a blue diamond box, so here is a patch for those of you who feel the same. There are no criteria or hoops to jump through to get this patch. Even if you HAVE a blue diamond, there is no guarantee you will have it tomorrow, and so I made this patch to say letterboxER, instead of letterbox. You may not have a blue diamond at this time, but if you are a Blue Diamond in your heart and manner--by treating others with kindness and respect, and doing your best to be a positive contributor to the hobby--you qualify in my book. I hope the patch will inspire you to explore those cool places, write those awesome clues, and carve beautiful stamps!"
(3-1/2" x 3-1/8")

Which way is North?
This patch is the super-secret spy code designed to let other letterboxers on the trail know that you're one of them—without giving yourself away to any curious "muggles"! After all, only true letterboxers know that North is UP. This patch was originally created by Grrly Girl, but after the first batch sold out, she graciously turned the design over to us as a fund-raiser for the patch exhibit. A quick informal poll indicated that some folks thought the original design was a bit large, so we gave it a subtle makeover to be slightly more discreet. Available exclusively through this site.

Letterboxing History... One Patch at a Time
You can help us in our effort to preserve and share the history of letterboxing patches! In order to supplement the cost of maintaining an online exhibit, and also occasionally taking the real-life exhibit to letterboxing events around the country, we sell patches. So why not offer a letterboxing patch that celebrates letterboxing patches? Here it is, our very own LetterboxingPatches.com patch! Show your support by wearing this patch to your next letterboxing meet. If someone happens to notice, take a few moments to tell them how much you care about preserving the history of letterboxing and passing it on to the next generation. (3" diameter)

New York Letterbox Hiker Challenge
Are you up for the challenge? In 2009, the New York 25 Mile Letterbox Challenge was first announced, offering a beautiful embroidered patch as an incentive for keeping track of miles hiked while finding, planting, and maintaining letterboxes. The challenge is still on and in 2011, in partnership with this site, Jackbear and Sahalie have expanded the project to include patches for reaching goals of 50, 75 and 100 miles. Badge Magic®
No more sewing on patches!

During construction of the Historical Exhibit of Letterboxing Patches, we experimented with many methods of attaching patches to various fabrics. In the end, we chose Badge Magic® and now we recommend it to everyone. Don't confuse this product with the iron-on product with a rhyming name. This stuff sticks WAY better and doesn't require ironing.

With Badge Magic® you just trace around your patch, cut out with scissors, peel & stick and you're done! Your patches are firmly attached and machine washable, yet can be removed for re-positioning if needed.

This 8 1/2" X 12" sheet contains over 100 square inches of peel-and-stick adhesive that can be cut into any shape.

ATTENTION PATCH CREATORS:

You may qualify for Financial Assistance!

We are currently accepting applications for two programs that are intended to reduce economic barriers for creating new letterboxing patches. The Cooperative Patch Production Program can help to substantially lower the cost of producing a new patch design, while the Patch Buy-Out Program is designed to reduce the financial burden of existing patches that are not selling as rapidly as its creator might prefer.
